Terms of service
Effective 2 November 2026
The short version: WordLord is free to play and paid for by ads. Play fair: no cheating, bots or tricks to farm coins. Coins, power-ups and looks are part of the game, not money, and can't be sold or swapped. The one-time Supporter pack is bought through Google Play or the App Store, and their refund rules apply. You can delete your account at any time, and we can close accounts that break these rules. Nothing here takes away rights the law gives you as a consumer.

1. About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Ronomade ("we", "us"), the maker of WordLord. They cover the WordLord app for Android and iOS, its online services (accounts, online games, friends, challenges, leaderboards and notifications), and this website. By installing or playing WordLord you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
Our privacy policy explains what data we collect and how we use it. The terms of the store you downloaded WordLord from also apply.
2. Who can play
WordLord is a word game for everyone. It has no chat and no way for players to message each other, and players appear only under generated names like "Clever Lion 53".
- If you're under 18, or under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian should read these terms with you and agree to them for you.
- You need a parent's or guardian's permission before buying the Supporter pack. Google Play and the App Store also let parents control purchases.
- Answer the birth-year question honestly. It decides which ads and notifications you get (see the privacy policy).
3. Your account
- The first time the app reaches our server, it creates a guest account for you, with no email or password. Your progress is tied to that account and to your device.
- If you sign in with Google or Apple, your progress can follow you to other devices. Without sign-in, uninstalling the app or losing your phone can mean losing your progress, and we can't recover it.
- An account is for one person. Don't share, sell or transfer it, and don't use someone else's.
- You're responsible for what happens on your account, so keep your device and your Google or Apple sign-in secure.
4. Playing fair
WordLord is only fun when everyone plays by the same rules. You agree not to:
- use bots, scripts, solvers that play for you, or anything else that automates play in online games, the Daily Challenge or friend challenges;
- modify the app, tamper with its data or traffic, or exploit bugs to get coins, items, scores or wins you didn't earn (if you find a bug, please tell us);
- create extra accounts or fake invites to collect invite rewards, or to push scores up the leaderboards;
- arrange results with other players, for example by losing on purpose;
- attack, overload, scrape or probe our servers, or get around rate limits or other protections;
- copy, decompile or reverse-engineer the app or our services, except where the law allows it regardless of these terms;
- use WordLord for anything illegal, or to harass other players, for example by flooding them with invites or challenges.
If we have good reason to believe someone has broken these rules, we may remove their results from leaderboards, take back coins or items gained unfairly, reset their progress, or suspend or close their account. Where we can, we'll do the least that fixes the problem.
5. Coins, power-ups and looks
You earn coins by playing and by inviting friends, and spend them on power-ups (Freeze, Peek, Lock) and looks (avatars, ladder styles, mascot hats). Levels unlock more of the game as you play.
- Coins, power-ups, looks, levels and other in-game items are part of the game. They have no cash value and aren't your property. We give you a personal, revocable right to use them in WordLord.
- They can't be sold, traded, transferred or exchanged for money or anything outside the game, and we don't sell coins.
- We may rebalance the game, which can change prices, rewards and what items do. We won't take away a look you've unlocked without a good reason, such as fixing a mistake.
- Coins and items are stored on your device and backed up to our server when you're online. If they're lost because of a fault on our side, tell us and we'll try to restore them.
6. The Supporter pack
The Supporter pack is an optional, one-time purchase. It turns ads off and adds some extra looks. It doesn't give any advantage in games.
- Buying: you buy it through Google Play or the App Store, which take your payment and show the price, including any taxes, before you confirm. We never see your card details.
- Delivery: it unlocks straight away. If you sign in with Google or Apple, it also unlocks on your other devices. You can restore it from the shop after reinstalling.
- Refunds: refunds are handled by the store you bought from, under its policies. See Google Play refunds or Apple's refund requests. If a refund is given, the pack is removed again.
- Your right to cancel (EU and UK): digital content is normally covered by a 14-day right of withdrawal. Because the pack is delivered as soon as you buy it, you agree when buying that it starts straight away and that you lose that right once it's delivered. This doesn't affect your rights if the pack is faulty or doesn't work as described.
- If we stop online services or close WordLord: the pack keeps working in the offline parts of the app on devices where it's already unlocked.
7. Ads
WordLord is free because it shows ads from Google AdMob: banners on menu screens, the occasional ad inside longer lists, and now and then a full-screen ad between games. Ads never appear while you're playing, and never once you own the Supporter pack. Ads are made by advertisers, not by us, and any deal you make with an advertiser is between you and them. The privacy policy explains how ads use your data and how to change your choices.
8. Online features
- Online games, friends, challenges and leaderboards need an internet connection and our server. Vs Computer, Pass & Play and the Daily Challenge work without them.
- Other players see your generated name, avatar and results in games with you, on daily leaderboards, in challenges you create, and in their friend list once you've swapped friend codes.
- Notifications: if you allow them, we may send you play reminders, friend and challenge alerts and, only if you turn it on, news about the game. You can change this at any time in Settings → Notifications.
- Availability: we work to keep online features running, but they may sometimes be down for maintenance or because of problems outside our control. A game in progress can be lost when that happens.
- Changes: we may add, change or remove features, and we may stop online services altogether. If we stop them, we'll say so in the app or on this website at least 30 days before, where we can.
- Updates may be needed to keep playing online. Very old versions of the app may be asked to update before they connect.
9. Our content and your licence
WordLord, including its code, design, artwork, sounds, characters, name and logo, belongs to Ronomade or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the app on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial entertainment, in line with these terms and your store's rules.
The word lists and definitions come from third-party sources: the ENABLE word list (public domain), SCOWL, and Princeton WordNet 3.0. Fonts and other open-source parts are used under their own licences, listed on the in-app Licenses page. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under those licences.
If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them without owing you anything. Thank you!
10. Ending your account
- You can stop playing at any time. To delete your account and progress, use Settings → Delete account and progress. The privacy policy explains what happens to your data.
- We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or where the law requires us to. Unless the law or the safety of other players stops us, we'll tell you why in the app and give you a chance to contact us about it.
- When an account is closed, its coins, items and progress are gone. Sections 5, 9 and 11 to 14 still apply afterwards.
11. No guarantees
We make WordLord with care, but we provide it "as is" and "as available". As far as the law allows, we don't promise that it will always be available, free of bugs, or that every word or definition is correct or complete. Word lists are chosen to be family-friendly, but some ordinary words have meanings some people may find unpleasant.
Some countries don't allow these exclusions. Where you live, you may have legal rights, for example that digital content matches its description and is fit for purpose, that these terms can't take away.
12. Our liability
As far as the law allows:
- we're not liable for indirect or unforeseeable losses, or for lost progress, coins or items, except where we caused them by failing to take reasonable care;
- our total liability to you for anything to do with WordLord is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and 50 US dollars (or the equivalent in your currency).
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be limited by law. If you're a consumer in the EU or UK, we're responsible for foreseeable loss and damage caused by our breach of these terms or our negligence.
13. Google Play and the App Store
If you got WordLord from Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service also apply.
If you got WordLord from Apple's App Store, these terms also include the following:
- These terms are between you and Ronomade only, not Apple. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for WordLord and its content.
- Your licence lets you use WordLord on Apple-branded products that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the App Store Terms of Service. Family Sharing may also let other members of your family group use it.
- We, not Apple, are solely responsible for maintenance and support. Apple has no obligation to provide any.
- If WordLord fails to meet any warranty that applies, you can tell Apple, and Apple will refund any purchase price you paid for it. As far as the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for WordLord, and any other claims, losses or costs from a failure to meet a warranty are our responsibility, as these terms describe.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for handling any claims you or anyone else make about WordLord or your use of it, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar laws.
- If anyone claims that WordLord or your use of it infringes their intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are solely responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging that claim.
- You confirm that you're not in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated by the US Government as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you're not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- You must follow any third-party terms that apply when you use WordLord, such as those of your mobile network.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms. Once you accept them, Apple has the right to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.
14. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya, and the courts of Kenya can hear disputes about them. If you're a consumer living elsewhere, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country, and you can bring a claim in your local courts.
If something goes wrong, please contact us first. Most problems can be sorted out quickly. If you're in the EU, you can also use your national consumer dispute resolution bodies.
If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a part straight away, we can still enforce it later.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms when WordLord changes or the law requires it. We'll update this page and the effective date above. If a change is significant, we'll tell you in the app at least 30 days before it takes effect, unless it has to happen sooner for legal or safety reasons. If you keep playing after a change takes effect, the new terms apply. If you don't agree with them, you can stop playing and delete your account.
